Was washing / checking car over car prior to going on a trip last weekend when I noticed that the clutch master cylinder cap had split almost 320degrees around. To cut a long story short...can't buy a new one, can't get a scrap one..so in the end had to resort to superglue and duck tape to hold it together. Thought someone had overtightened it , but according to Brian Luti at Dreadnaught it's a design fault....his did the same...so worth checking

Is that fault on V8's only, or all ZTs?

I think on ZT260, as they don't have the sealed master cyliders of the Rover75 (and indeed my wife's ZS180)..worth checking though as it just seems to happen for no reason....next question of course is does anyone have a spare cap?

Went on the ZT260 site last week and someone there had had the same problem....Suggested that the 51 plate Mini Cooper (BMW) part would fit......so I nipped into my local BMW dealer and ordered one up.......cost just over a tenner (including the vat ) arrived the next day and hey presto it fits........in fact design on the top is the same.....so chuffed with that ..only difference is that my original had a small vent hole in the top , the new one doesn't (but sems to have a small rubber valve under the cap)......will keep my original as a spare for future reference

Have joined the ZT260's ..(also meant spending cash to join the MGOC......but as my wife has a ZS180 it includes her too) it got me access to the members stuff too........only then i found a number of folk had listed other caps that would fit ...Astras etc. which I could have picked up at a scrappy for next to nothing......however don't grudge the car a new one..and it was less than a tenner (before the dreaded vat was added)
