Well i have booked a cosy wee cottage near NEWTON STEWART for a week this saturday coming , that part of scotland is a bit of a mystery to me but i hear the wigtonshire coastline is lovely .
Stopping off in GIRVAN for lunch before heading to the cottage , i love secluded cottage holidays , AND it has a woodburning stove . ;D

I lived in Dumfries for a number of years. Newton Stewart is nice and the drive there through the Galloway Forrest is nice too. All the surrounding towns are nice and quiet. Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas, Kirkcubright, Stranrear and Dumfries itself. I'll be in York, if not France, but the missus is against this idea.

I love cottage hoidays too, me and Gillian were up in Fort Augustus a few years ago, it was cracking, also with wood burning stove

A few years back we went to a lodge estate cottage in KILFINAN near TIGNABRIACH [cant spell it] , it was great but it rained 6 days out of 7 We had the same in fort augustus, i remember we went up to culloden and it was the most miserable day ever, hammering it down and a terrible wind, much fun in my mac with the audio tour in my ears, Gillian decided to wait inside the museum!
