have to say as an Aberdeen fan, I am really looking forward to this season. Theres a buzz about, people getting ready to show that we can survive without Rangers in the SPL. I have my tickets for "sell out saturday" at pittodrie and cant wait, swmbo doesnt know it yet but shes getting dragged too..... haha ;D
Anyone else looking forward to the new season?

The sellout Saturday has me asking one question. Why has it taken all of what has happened to to get these people of their backsides and back to the football?.
As a Rangers fan I'm looking forward to the day we return to the SPL. Full houses at Ibrox every week will raise the roof every time a goal goes in against one of the teams who put the boot in(the ones that survive anyway). My prediction is that at least 4 of the current SPL will have entered administration before we return to the SPL. Hearts, Kilmarnock, Inverness and Aberdeen being the ones to go that way.
Cheers Bluey

Aberdeen wont hit administration, thats for sure, probably one of the most financially sound clubs out there, everyone laughed when they unplugged the toaster.......
AS for putting the boot in, I dont believe any club did, just wanted to uphold sporting integrity. No one stepped in to save Gretna or Livingston.....
I for one was sad to see the demise of Rangers but if we allowed them back into the SPL or Div 1 then it sets a bad precedent esp for teams like hearts, Romanov has destroyed their finances and all the debt is owed to his bank! I dont think the transfer embargo should stand with the Newco though.
As for getting people off their backsides, knowing that at worst 2nd place is up for grabs instead of being dominated by 2 teams from glasgow, makes it much more entertaining for the "wee" clubs, but with Celtic 1/50 to win the league, we could do with more restructuring, but i think what has happened will allow all teams to restructure, making a more financially sound league and ultimately more competitive, also nice to hear ESPN still want to cover SPL games.

Yep have to agree with Alan here,Nobody put the boot into Rangers.Rangers cheated the rest of the spl for 12 years and when they get caught they want the clubs who they cheated to help them out,the same clubs who didnt use EBTs,payed their taxes and didnt run with double contracts and as said before who stepped in to save Greta when they went to the wall and was it not Rangers who put Livingstone into administration when they demanded a payment that could not be met. I do think the transfare embargo should still be in affect along with the 160,000 fine,if you want to keep your history and all that comes with the old company then you still need to take your punishments into the new company. I too was sad to see Rangers go to the 3rd as they were our only competition really but life goes on and im looking forward to winning the title for many years to come as i dont see much in the way of competition from the other clubs, Celtic will finish at least 20 points clear this year which is good forus but not the league in general

The SPL has Had a big imbalance with rangers and Celtic being dominant for lots of years. Now it's going to be an odd imbalance with one dominant team. For the next few years, it's going to be such a predictable league. I think ill start following Bowles for the next few years

Rangers were mismanaged by David Murray after he took advice that was flawed and acted upon it, that much is known. Then Craig Whyte did nothing more than steal every penny that came into the club for 9 months. Prior to Whyte all bills were paid on time and had the tax case found against Rangers then that bill would have been paid too.... there's no reason to suspect it wouldn't. Craig Whyte's theft put Rangers into administration.... not Murray's alleged wrongdoings..... although he is a major contributor to the whole sorry mess. As for my own feelings.... every single team in the SPL bar Killie DID put the boot in. Football is administered by utter buffoons who all want someone else to sort things for them. The SPL chairmen all expected the punishment to be Div 1 and the cash cow to be back in business in a year's time. They gambled and lost and some of them will suffer by going into administration. The hatred shown towards Rangers thinly veiled as outrage at a lack of sporting integrity has been utterly sickening. But, they'll be back and every single word uttered by the christmas voting turkeys will by thrown back. It could have been done in a more dignified manner but the red mist of revenge put paid to that. In the meantime Rangers will bring financial rewards to the smaller teams while the SPL teams suffer..... so it's not all bad news. If there is one thing that DID shock me this week it was that Neil Simpson is being given a testimonial by the Dons. That beggars belief given the level of infamy he gained from the career wrecking assault he carried out on Ian Durrant, arguably one of the finest players of his generation. He was never the same afterwards. Just my two bob's worth. Roll on 2015 and the old duels being contested once more. Cheers Bluey

He was never the same afterwards. Bit harsh! It was a shocker of a tackle, but I have seen similar if not worse tackles since. THe guy paid damages to Durrant and is being recognised not only for his playing career but his career in youth development as is now, the guy made a mistake. I doubt he meant to severely injure anyone when he went out to the match. Look at Nacho Novo on Stuart Duff etc, it happens they get caught up in the moment. I dont think any player goes out with malicious intent. Anyway, cant wait to see the Gers back in the SPL and as for sticking the boot in, I stick with what i said above Oh and Glenn, I know the feeling but normally its just is it Rangers or Celtic this year, so all the other teams get to have a go for second which will make a nice change and unless Celtic do well in Europe, they will soon start heading back to a more level playing field

Hi Alan I rethought what I posted and was going to say perhaps I'd been too harsh. Then I looked at the tackle on You Tube and was shocked to my core all over again. The ball was nowhere near Simpson and the only thing on his mind was putting his full body weight through his right boot and snapping Ian Durrant's leg in the centre. Not to say that Simpson hasn't done good things in his career since that day. But that wasn't a tackle. In every sense of the word it was an attack. Had it occurred on CCTV in a street then a jail sentence would have been passed. I don't wish him any ill. But, by the same token I'll only ever associate the name with what he did that day.
Cheers Bluey
